Today, I was cleaning out 5853 emails from my email account, and sorting the meaningful ones that I had saved for literally, since the foundation of the internet back in the early 90's. Many of these were from my Aunt Diane, and these included the Diane Posse updates, when she was sharing updates about her struggle with cancer. I got a chance to revisit these and to relive the messages from this difficult time. One of the memories that really stood out was her "grateful" list including all the reasons why she was grateful for cancer. She related a story about getting pulled over by a police officer, and taking her wig off before he got to the window of her car. The police officer noticed a visibly distraught woman without hair, and let her go with a warning. She was thankful for cancer for getting her off from speeding tickets. This glimmer of hope and gratitude was memorable for me, as was her insistence in finding out about my life, and my happenings, instead of solely discussing her situation. I miss her more now, as I get ready to venture on to amazing new situations I wish I could share with her. Her thoughts and insights still guide me, like an imaginary rudder as I navigate difficult situations in my own life. For this I am grateful.

I've known Dianne since we were teens and spent summers working and riding the horses at Ivory Farms. She told me the day before she died that these were some of her greatest memories. She was my buddy, my traveling companion, my bridesmaid, my confidant and my friend for over 40 years and she will always be in my heart.

I'm Bruce's sister from Alaska. I remember that whenever I was in Dianne's presence, that she was intensely interested in me. She would ask me questions about my life that made me feel I was important to her. The questions were never inappropriate or too personal, just caring ones. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and a great laugh. I'll miss her.
